COCA-COLA SUMMER FILM FESTIVAL MOVIE ‘GOERS’ BECOME MOVIE ‘GIVERS’ WITH PURCHASE OF A COKE
Fox Theatre, Coca-Cola Pledge Support to Variety of Georgia
With the help of the Fox Theatre, Coca-Cola Summer Film Festival movie ‘goers’ will become movie ‘givers’ to Georgia’s children in need. The Fox Theatre, in partnership with Coca-Cola North America, is donating 25 cents from every Coca-Cola product sold at the summer-long 2008 festival to Variety of Georgia, a charity dedicated to improving the lives of disadvantaged children.
“The Coca-Cola Summer Film Festival and The Fox Theatre are honored and excited to support Variety of Georgia,” said Allan Vella, General Manager of the Fox Theatre in Atlanta. “Through this program, audiences can enjoy the classic Fox Theatre experience, including a popular movie and an ice-cold Coca-Cola, all while helping improve the life of a child – there’s really no better way to spend a summer evening.”
Donations received from Coca-Cola purchases will go directly to children in Georgia and will benefit programs such as the Mobility Program, designed to ensure that children with mobility challenges will receive the bikes, lifts, wheelchairs, walkers, and prosthetic limbs they need. Select festival nights will include a Fox Theatre display of a custom mobility bike that Variety of Georgia will donate to a disadvantaged child.
“Variety of Georgia gives disadvantaged children a chance at the life they deserve,” said Stefanie Miller, Global Account Director at Coca-Cola North America and board member of Variety of Georgia. “The money raised from the Coca-Cola Summer Film Festival will help us to make the positive changes that will forever impact the lives of the children who need it most.”
The festival kicks off June 5 with the Rolling Stones backstage concert film Shine a Light, directed by Martin Scorsese, and runs through August 30, 2008. Other popular titles include Horton Hears a Who, Atonement, Casablanca, No Country For Old Men, Enchanted and Ben-Hur. Individual tickets are $7 and ticket packs are $60 and include 12 tickets that may be used for any movie combination for individuals and their friends all summer. Tickets are on sale at the Fox Theatre Box Office, 404-817-8700, or www.ticketmaster.com.
About Variety of Georgia
Variety began in 1927 when an abandoned infant, found on the steps of a theatre, motivated a group of entertainers and their friends to help underprivileged and disabled children everywhere. Since then, Variety International has grown to 54 chapters in 14 countries raising more than $1 billion to assist in the treatment and care for children in crisis. Variety of Georgia, coined “Tent 21”, became the 21st chapter
